Question 1

What is remote online notarization?

Accepted Answer

Remote online notarization (RON) lets you appear before a commissioned notary through live two-way audio-video instead of in person. Florida law sets specific rules for identity proofing, recording, and record keeping.

Question 2

Can I use a Florida online notary if I live in another state?

Accepted Answer

Florida law allows a Florida online notary, physically in Florida, to notarize for signers located elsewhere, with required consents. Whether the receiving party accepts the result is a separate question that you should confirm with them.

Question 3

Will my document be accepted?

Accepted Answer

Acceptance is up to the receiving party. Many accept online notarizations, but some agencies, courts, recorders, and foreign authorities have their own rules. We cannot guarantee acceptance.

Question 4

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

$25 per completed online notarial act. Any separately permitted fee is itemized before you pay.

Question 5

What ID do I need?

Accepted Answer

A current government-issued photo ID that our RON provider's credential analysis supports. You will also complete identity proofing. Supported IDs will be listed once our provider is configured.

Question 6

Should I sign my document before the session?

Accepted Answer

No, not if the notarial act requires you to sign in front of the notary. Upload the unsigned document. Your notary will guide you.

Question 7

Can you notarize a will?

Accepted Answer

Electronic wills require additional Florida statutory safeguards. They are special review only and are never processed through our standard flow.

Question 8

Do you offer apostilles?

Accepted Answer

An apostille or authentication is issued by a government authority and is a separate step from notarization. We can explain the process, but we do not issue apostilles.

Question 9

Can the notary refuse?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Notaries may decline any notarization at their discretion, for example if identity cannot be verified or if a signer appears unwilling or unaware.

Question 10

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Documents are stored privately, shared only through expiring authenticated links, and accessible only to staff whose role and case assignment permit it. We do not claim certifications we have not obtained.

Question 11

Do you give legal advice?

Accepted Answer

No. TruvaLink Notary is not a law firm. Notaries cannot tell you which document or notarial act you need.
